Fighting Back Against the Virus

What is “Upper-Room Germicidal UV Disinfection”?

Also known by various names such as “upper-room germicidal UV irradiation (UVGI)” and “GUV”.

The names may sound complex but the idea and the technology is really quite simple. The purpose of this technology is to help reduce viral and bacterial loads of indoor air by applying germicidal UV light to the upper portion of the room air above the heads of people in the room (therefore the term”upper-room disinfection”).

UV light in the germicidal range (254nm UVC) is quite efficient in helping reduce the amount of airborne pathogens as room air passes continually over the wall-mounted UV fixture (and through the “disinfection zone” created by the UV light fixture represented by the blue glow above the fixture in the picture). As the room air recirculates through the zone many times in a day, the disease-causing pathogens including SARS-CoV-2 and many others are hit with germicidal UV light which destroys these pathogens and reduces the airborne viral load over time.

The Wyckomar series of UV-Air Purification systems includes two sizes, one for smaller rooms and one for larger spaces. The UV-Air250 and UV-Air1500 are easy to install (wall mounted – simple DIY) and they operate silently and effectively for an entire year to continually disinfect the air in your space.

Ideally suited for use in Long-Term Care facilities and other health care settings, along with general commercial use in office and retail settings, the UV-Air systems from Wyckomar can be a significant help with the reopening of the economy after the pandemic emergency ends.

Wyckomar UV-Air fixtures are an inexpensive and practical method of adding additional barriers to help reduce infections and infection transmission.
